Music promo and sleeve artwork for an indie label

When our friends at Bokhari Records invited us to design the sleeve for their strictly limited vinyl release Slunk Dub EP, we couldn’t resist making them a bonus promo animation to accompany the artwork. The results are a print+digital dream team which compliment each other perfectly.

The concept emerged after the label revealed they were big fans of pyramids and eyes (after all who isn’t?), so it seemed only reasonable to embark on this deliciously surreal, psychedelic voyage into a colourful, metaphysical underworld.

Sleeve Artwork With Rhythm

The record sleeve is designed to tile horizontally front-to-back, creating a visual loop. We wanted to suggest rhythm and motion in the artwork, a bit like an animation timeline or a musical score. The repeating graphics can be interpreted as notes in a bar forming an abstract kind of visual music.

It’s a playful way to bring the artwork to life, and bridge the gap between the physical and digital deliverables.
